The state forest administration ranger at the Rothaarsteig
The operational area of the ranger is the Rothaarsteig and the access roads, which run of more than 80% through the forest. Their main task is, to explain to visitors of the Rothaarsteiges about the secrets of the forest and its manifold functions. In order to do this, they have to be continually educated, among others, to an examined nature and countryside conservationist. Further activities of a ranger include simple repair and restoration work.
The rangers also secure the Rothaarsteig and its facilities in the state forest and protect the forest from excessive use by tourism. The work in the area environment-education by the rangers follow guidelines by the state forest law and the administration fee regulation North Rhine Westphalia. This means, that guided tours for kindergarten, schools and multipliers as measures for environmental education are free. The contents of the guided tours refer to the forest functions, forest restoration in public and a positive forest experience.
More extensive guided tours for visitors and hiking groups are on offer for a fee.
